The new generation Toyota HiLux has arrived, and owners are already looking for front end protection that works with the vehicle rather than against it. This East West Pest work ute gave us an ideal opportunity to fit the Offroad Animal Toro bull bar and take a closer look at the result.
A bull bar on a modern 4WD needs to do more than add steel to the front of the vehicle. It must provide useful protection, preserve the technology built into the vehicle, accommodate future accessories and look like it belongs there.
For this brand new 2026 Toyota HiLux N90, the brief was clear. The vehicle needed additional protection for regional and remote work without losing the modern appearance that will eventually form part of a professionally branded fleet. Our team supplied and fitted a matte black Offroad Animal Toro bull bar, together with colour matched headlight infill panels for a clean, integrated finish.

Why the Toro bull bar suits the 2026 HiLux N90
The N90 HiLux has a more modern front end than the model it replaces. A bulky or poorly integrated bar can easily overpower those lines. The Toro takes a different approach, combining the protection of a full loop design with a close fitting profile and carefully shaped wings.
For work vehicles, that balance matters. The ute still needs to present well when it arrives at a customer’s property, but it also needs to be ready for early starts, country roads and areas where wildlife is common.
Important features of the Offroad Animal Toro bull bar for the 2026 HiLux N90 include:
- ADR compliant and airbag compatible construction
- Compatibility provisions for autonomous emergency braking, parking sensors and radar systems
- Relocation of the forward facing camera into the bull bar
- A full bumper replacement design with no cutting of the bumper or grille listed by the manufacturer
- One piece welded construction with reinforced wings
- Integrated high lift jacking points
- Winch compatibility for many low mount winches up to 12,000 lb
- Mounting options for a slim 22 inch light bar, wing lights and suitable round driving lights
- Two antenna mounting points and high tensile steel tow hooks supplied as standard
The result is a bull bar that can serve as the foundation for a touring or work build without requiring every accessory to be fitted on day one.
A factory style finish with colour matched infill panels
The bar itself was finished in matte black, which gives the front of the HiLux a strong contrast and will suit the vehicle’s future East West Pest branding. Colour matched headlight infill panels replace the original sections beside the headlights, creating a clean transition between the bull bar and the HiLux bodywork.
It is a relatively small detail, but it makes a noticeable difference. Matching the infill panels helps connect the new bar to the original bodywork and avoids the appearance of an accessory that has simply been placed over the front of the ute.

Protection for a work ute that leaves the city
This HiLux will become part of the fleet at East West Pest, a Brisbane and Ipswich pest control company whose technicians sometimes travel into rural and remote areas. Those trips can involve wildlife, long distances and sections with limited or no mobile reception.
In that setting, avoiding front end damage is about more than protecting the vehicle’s appearance. Damage to cooling systems, lights or safety equipment can leave a technician unable to continue to a job or reach their accommodation. The Toro was selected to add meaningful protection while maintaining the modern, professional look planned for the completed vehicle.
The ute is still partway through its build. A vehicle wrap and suspension lift are planned, allowing the final stance and suspension setup to be matched to the completed vehicle and its working load.
Why added weight should be planned as part of the whole build
Offroad Animal lists the Toro bar at 79 kg. Once the original components are removed, the stated net increase is approximately 63 kg. That is a useful figure, but it should not be considered in isolation.
A work or touring ute may later carry a winch, driving lights, underbody protection, a tray, canopy, tools or other constant loads. Selecting suspension too early can mean choosing spring rates before the vehicle’s true operating weight is known.
For this build, the next stage will include a suspension and lift package to support the finished setup and improve how the vehicle sits with its added weight. The right approach depends on the exact accessories, axle loads, typical payload and how the vehicle will be driven.

Professional fitment matters on a modern HiLux
Fitting a bull bar to a new vehicle is not simply a matter of bolting it to the chassis. The bar must be aligned correctly with the body, lights and infill panels. Factory fog lights, sensors, radar and camera systems also need to be integrated carefully for the applicable vehicle specification.
That is where an experienced workshop makes a difference. McCormacks 4WD can help customers confirm the correct bar for their HiLux variant, plan accessories, arrange colour matching and complete the installation through one workshop. It gives the customer one team to speak with and a build that has been considered as a complete vehicle, not a collection of unrelated parts.
What the owner said
“We wanted protection for the rural and remote work our technicians sometimes do, but the vehicle still needed a modern appearance that would suit our branding. McCormacks’ advice and professional fitment made the process seamless.” East West Pest
Who is the Toro bull bar best suited to?
The Toro is a strong option for N90 HiLux owners who want more coverage than a hoopless bar while retaining a modern, vehicle specific appearance. It is particularly relevant for:
- Work utes travelling between Brisbane and regional Queensland
- Drivers who regularly travel at dawn, dusk or through wildlife areas
- Touring builds that may add a winch, lights or antennas later
- Owners who want front end protection without a traditional oversized appearance
- Businesses that need a capable vehicle to remain clean and professional
Frequently asked questions about the 2026 HiLux Toro bull bar
- Which 2026 HiLux N90 models does the Toro bull bar suit? Offroad Animal currently lists the bar for WorkMate, SR, SR5 and Rogue models. A supplementary kit is available for the Rugged X. Compatibility should always be confirmed against the exact variant and VIN before ordering. Full electric vehicle compatibility is still listed by the manufacturer as awaiting confirmation.
- Does the N90 Toro bull bar work with factory safety technology? The bar is designed with provisions for autonomous emergency braking, parking sensors, radar systems and relocation of the forward facing camera. Correct installation and calibration requirements can vary by model, so the final setup should be confirmed for the individual vehicle.
- Does the factory bumper or grille need to be cut? Offroad Animal describes the Toro as a full bumper replacement with no cutting of the bumper or grille required. This contributes to a cleaner installation and makes accurate panel alignment especially important.
- Can a winch and driving lights be added later? Yes. The design allows a compatible low mount winch to be installed after the bar is fitted, which also helps with future maintenance access. It can accommodate a slim single row 22 inch light bar and several wing or driving light configurations. Product clearances should be checked before purchasing lights, as some larger round lights are not suitable.
- Will fitting the bull bar mean the suspension needs upgrading? Not every vehicle needs the same suspension solution. The decision should consider the complete build, including the bar, any future winch, tools, canopy, payload and normal driving conditions. McCormacks 4WD can assess the intended constant load and recommend a suitable setup.
